PocketSprungLux Pocket spring futon mattresses were pioneered in the U.S. during the 1990’s and proved to be extremely popular. This type of futon mattress was also made here in the UK but on a smaller scale and although they had their fans the costs were comparatively high and fell out of favour. Recently we have been able to source pocket spring cores from a new source and at a price that means we can offer this unique futon mattress in two styles at a very competitive price. Each pre-compressed coil or spring is barrel shaped for maximum tension, it is heat tempered to 600 degrees c.This process causes the coil to "remember" its shape and will perform, as designed, long after standard coils have lost their bounce. Each coil or spring is encased in a non woven fabric pocket that is then secured to a flexible stabilizing panel. This creates a system so that each coil moves straight up and down, mirroring each sleepers body and eliminating any “roll together”. Firm, healthy support like the best conventional mattress, this futon has fantastic flexibility even allows the futon to fold easily into a sofa. Comfort and versatility are ensured with either type of innerspring futon mattress. The PockerSprungLux has x4 layers of our unique cotton rich filling that will not compress at all. The cotton fibres are blended with polyester and baked in an oven and this process ensures that the layer will hold its shape and structure unlike cotton on its own that has a tendency to bind and matt and ultimately lose the cushioning effect that it has when made into a layer of filling. With the x2 layers of lamb's wool top and bottom giving an added luxurious feel the combination guarantees comfort with firmness. Textiles/Top Cover: As part of the price you can choose a coloured fixed mattress cover from our variety of plain fabrics: cotton drills or for a little extra the funky cotton chenille & faux suede range. However, if your futon is being used as a sofa we recommend you consider a washable removable top cover as it will protect your futon mattress from the little accidents that plague our homes such as spills, kids and pets, please check out this top covers link for all the available options. The natural fibres in the filling of the mattress don't like to get wet.
