TradLux The TradLux is a traditional futon mattress with a new twist. If you consider the main fillings used for futon mattresses from the ‘70’s up until about 5 years ago were reclaimed cotton and woolfelt, and the countless futons sold in the UK during that 35 year period, you would have to assume it was a successful product.  Changes arose as more "man made" fibres suitable for use as futon fillings came onto the market and gradually replaced the mainstay of the futon industry i.e. reclaimed cotton and wool. These new fillings were lighter and easier to handle and could be cut to shape easily all features that improve futon mattresses. As a retailer trying to offer products that are versatile, healthy and affordable we always look for and appreciate repeat business. I feel the life expectancy of a decent futon mattress to be 7-9 years more or less, and over the past 12 months I’ve had numerous previous customers ask for futon mattresses that were the same as they had “back in the day”. Always pleased to help we decided to resurrect the old favourite and at around the same cost. Although a bit heavier, this is a thick robust futon offering support for the spine and keeping it aligned rather than the sinking feeling you can get with mattresses filled with foam or springs. Perfect for everyday sleeping use on a 3 seat futon or bed frame this 8" thick mattress has x2 layers of lamb's wool and x6 layers of woolfelt. A lot of people prefer a firmer feel for their sleeping/sitting surface and this ensures that option.     Textiles/Top Cover: As part of the price you can choose a coloured fixed mattress cover from our variety of plain fabrics: cotton drills or for a little extra the funky cotton chenille & faux suede range. However, if your futon is being used as a sofa we recommend you consider a washable removable top cover as it will protect your futon mattress from the little accidents that plague our homes such as spills, kids and pets, please check out this top covers link for all the available options. The natural fibres in the filling of the mattress don't like to get wet.
